Sundays:  All participants and their cohort will partner with and serve a local church in Los Angeles.

Mondays: Participants are encouraged to rest during a full 24-hour sabbath each week.

Mandate begins March 26th and ends with graduation July 11th, 2021. 

Mandate is hosted by Newlife Church, in Pomona, California. 

• Months one and two will be at Newlife Church. 
• Month three will be working with local churches in the Los Angeles metro area. 
• Month four will be in East and Southern Africa. 

Mandate employs a dialog-based learning environment in which participants be and do while they think. The anticipated result is life change. 

The program is limited to 30 participants who:

(1) Engage in worship and prayer for two hours each meeting day.

(2) Discuss and apply teaching and experience from proven practitioners in person. This occurs in three sessions each meeting day. 

(3) Additionally, each participant receives personal mentoring from exceptional, proven leaders in a cohort of four to six men and women who employ open and honest dialog about what God is saying, and what each is learning and applying for two hours each meeting day.

Then each experiences Spirit-directed ministry opportunities in similar and different cultures, living and serving in community. This highly effective learning environment allows participants to grow in:

Spiritual Boldness

• Enjoy intimacy with God in prayer and worship.
• Activate spiritual gifts with the eight ministry skills of Doing What Jesus Did.
• Engage in results-oriented prayer, warfare, and prophecy.
• Embrace their identity in Christ, especially through various assessments.

Emotional Health

• Employ disciplines for mental, emotional and sexual health.
• Engage key moments from the past for inner healing.

Biblical Alignment

• Submit to Biblical Authority.
• Utilize careful principles of interpretation.
• Engage in daily inductive Bible Study.
• Adhere to doctrinal guardrails.

Servant Leadership

• Adopt the biblical character requirements of a leader.
• Become a servant, team leader.
• Employ the vision, influence, followers and context of leadership.

Cross Cultural Impact

• Serve a local church with moderate cross cultural challenges (E-1 and E-2, where E refers to evangelism).
• Assist with accomplishing the local church’s missional goals.
• Adapt missional strategies for urban, suburban, and rural communities.
• Present the Doing What Jesus Did weekend intensive.
• Participate in planting a church in a significantly challenging culture (E-3).
• Establish a personal, worldwide network of missionaries and church planters.
• Enlarge a personal worldview.

If leaders are not spiritually and emotionally healthy, biblically sound and culturally sensitive, their ministry suffers.

Mandate provides bold, Christ-like leadership development so that every human being can encounter the reality of the resurrected Jesus, and follow Him into fulfilling His Great Commission. 

Besides the Mandate experiences, each graduate plans to leave the program with:

• A recommended action plan based on assessments (from each part of the program) and a personal profile.
• Reproducible tools and resources (courses, teaching notes, handouts, slides, videos, etc.).
• Experience in renewing a cross-cultural local church (USA).
• Experience in planting a church in another country (Africa).
• Experience in leading outreaches in the U.S. and overseas (urban, suburban and rural).
• Specific resources to gain ministerial credentials.
• An option for a ministry interview.
• Mentoring calls during the coming year.

• Participants are required to fill out an application form.
• Space is limited. We deliberately keep cohort sizes small in order to effectively provide personal mentoring, development, and connection.
• Applicants will be required to interview with us. We intentionally look for participants who will be committed to the process, are hungry to encounter and share Jesus, and for whom the process will be a good fit.

• Tuition is $8,400 for the 16-week intensive.
• This includes housing, most meals, transportation, all domestic & international missions expenses (including flights), course materials, books and teaching. (Additional food details are included in the Participant Handbook).
• In order to keep up with the schedule participants are asked not to have outside employment during the 16 weeks of Mandate.

• Community is key to Mandate. Which is why all participants are required to live on-campus.
• Participants must be 18 or older.
• Participants must read and agree to the Mandate Participant Handbook. (Handbook will be emailed to you after you have completed the Application).

Each participant builds relationships as well as learns, applies and serves together in a cohort of four to six individuals. Marked by openness and honesty, the groups experience God, the working of the Holy Spirit, and each other as friends, mentors, vulnerability partners, travel companions and coworkers. They meet five days each week before and after the sessions.

Each cohort has a seasoned leader to guide, instruct, assess, facilitate and mentor them. This working team engages various assessments and assists each individual in developing a personal profile for evaluating future ministry opportunities.

• THE ETERNAL GODHEAD We believe that God is Triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14).
• THE FALL OF MAN We believe that man is created in the image of God but, by voluntary disobedience, fell from perfection—thereby imbuing humanity with sinfulness (Rom. 5:12).
• THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION We believe that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us—pardoning all who believe in Him (John 3:16; Rom. 5:8).
• REPENTANCE AND ACCEPTANCE We believe that, upon sincere repentance and a wholehearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God (Rom. 10:8-10; 1 John 1:9).
• SALVATION THROUGH GRACE We believe that we receive salvation when we come to God through faith in the atoning work of Jesus on the cross. Salvation is God’s gift to us (Eph. 2:8).
• THE NEW BIRTH We believe that a genuine change takes place in people who accept Christ as Savior; believers allow Christ’s life to be lived through them (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 2:20).
• WATER BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER We believe that baptism by immersion in water is an outward sign of an inward work (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4). We believe in commemorating the Lord’s Supper by the symbolic use of bread and fruit of the vine (1 Cor. 11:24, 25).
• BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT We believe that baptism with the Holy Spirit empowers believers, and that the Holy Spirit’s incoming follows the same pattern that is described in the New Testament (Acts 2:4).
• THE GIFTS AND FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT We believe that the Holy Spirit has gifts to bestow upon Christians (1 Cor. 12:1-11) and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life (Gal. 5:22-25).
• THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE We believe that it is the will of God that we daily walk in the power of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30-32).
• DIVINE HEALING We believe that divine healing is the power of Christ to heal the sick in answer to prayer offered in faith (Jas. 5:14-16).
• EVANGELISM We believe that the church’s primary responsibilities are taking the gospel to the entire world and making disciples (Mark 16:15; Matt. 28:19-20).
• THE HOLY SCRIPTURES We believe that the Bible is God-inspired (2 Tim. 3:16, 17).
• CHURCH RELATIONSHIP We believe that followers of Christ have a sacred duty to identify with the visible church of Jesus Christ and should meet regularly with fellow believers (Heb. 10:24, 25).
• CIVIL GOVERNMENT We believe that laws and ordinances come from God’s ultimate authority and should be upheld, except when they are in opposition to the revealed will of God (Rom. 13:1-5).
• HEAVEN We believe that heaven is the glorious eternal home of born-again believers (John 14:1-3; Rev. 7:15-17).
• HELL We believe that hell is the place of eternal torment for all who reject Christ as Savior (Rev. 20:11-15).
• THE FINAL JUDGMENT We believe every person will one day stand before the judgment seat of Christ to receive eternal life or death (Rev. 20:11-15; Heb. 9:27; 2 Cor. 5:10).
• MODERATION We believe that people who follow Christ should avoid the extremes of fanaticism and pursue lives of balance and moderation, demonstrating gentleness and patience (Phil. 4:5, KJV; Col. 3:12, 13).
• THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent (1 Thess. 4:16, 17; Titus 2:11- 13).
• TITHES AND OFFERINGS We believe the method ordained by God for the support and spread of His cause is giving tithes and offerings (Mal. 3:10; 2 Cor. 9:7).
• DAILY CHRISTIAN LIFE We believe that it is the will of God for believers to walk in progressive sanctification, growing continuously in the faith (Heb. 6:1).

Mandate is graciously hosted by Newlife Church in Pomona, California. Our church vision is to encounter God and change lives.  We are committed to creating an environment in which we are real.   We discuss real life with its real struggles, and bring them before a real God. 

Our goal is to grow closer to God and to each other, understanding we have to break the walls we have built to protect ourselves from past hurt and pain.  We believe each person must receive emotional healing in order to emotionally connect with our Savior and be healthy enough to help others. 

Our church is Foursquare, focusing on the unchanging ministry of Jesus Christ and our mission to declare it worldwide. The four squares represent the four roles of Jesus as Savior, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Healer and Soon-Coming King.  The movement stands firm on the foundation set forth by Hebrews 13:8, which proclaims "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever."

Founded in 1923 by Aimee Semple McPherson, Foursquare has 90,000 churches in 146 countries (1,400 in the U.S.).  The movement is “dedicated to interdenominational, worldwide evangelism,” embracing others from diverse denominational backgrounds.
